With the 2012-2013 season on the horizon, the Ohio wrestling team’s incoming recruiting class was recently ranked No. 25 in the nation by theopenmat.com, a top wrestling publication.

The class of six new wrestlers is the highest ranked class in the Mid-American Conference, and second in the state of Ohio to only No. 9 Ohio State.

Five of the six incoming wrestlers were nationally-ranked in high school, as the class has combined for seven state titles and 18 placements in state tournaments.

Four of the wrestlers graduated from Ohio colleges, with Thomas McLaughlin? from Nelsonville-York high school being the only local grappler. The two out-of-staters are from Illinois and Minnesota.

The Bobcats are coming off a strong campaign, were three wrestlers qualified for Nationals and two also were MAC Champions.

Iowa and Lehigh top the recruitment rankings. Schools just ahead of the Bobcats are Virginia Tech, Oregon State, Old Dominion and Wyoming.
