Treg Setty, a transfer from Southern Illinois, will join the Bobcats for the 2012-2013 basketball season.

The 6-9 200-pound forward must sit out his first season with the Bobcats, and will become eligible to play next year, per NCAA rules. Setty appeared in all 31 games for the Salukis last year, averaging 4.4 points per game with 78 total rebounds and 26 steals.

He asked for his release from Southern Illinois earlier this year and will join former Salukis assistant Anthony Stewart in Athens.

Setty was involved in a sticky situation at SIU, where he was not allowed to leave his scholarship because of academic problems. He then created a #freetregsetty campaign on Twitter, which drew national attention.

Setty confirmed he is transferring to Ohio through his personal Twitter account.
