With the Mid-American Conference Tournament set to begin Friday in Geneva, Ohio, several Bobcats received regular season awards from the MAC Thursday.

Sophomore outside hitter Kelly Lamberti was named the MAC volleyball player of the year, after leading Ohio in kills (393) and points (448.5), while finishing second on the team in digs (331).

She, along with fellow sophomore outside hitter Chelsea Bilger and freshman libero Meredith Ashy were named to the All-MAC First Team, while senior middle blocker Faith Robins and sophomore middle blocker Serena Warner received All-MAC Second team honors.

Ohio's three recepients of the first team honors is tied for the most in the MAC, along Western Michigan and Bowling Green.

Also receiving honors was freshman setter Abby Gilleland was named to the All-MAC Freshman Team and Ashy, who has the fifth-highest digs per set in the conference, with an average of 4.75.

Lamberti was also named the MAC East offensive player of week Monday, after a pair of dominant performances last weekend against Buffalo and Akron. It was the third time this season she received the honors.

Ohio, the regular season MAC Champions and No. 1 seed in the MAC Tournament dominated the conference during the regular season, posting a 14-2 record. The Bobcats defeated every team in the conference, except for Central Michigan, which defeated Ohio in five sets.

 The Bobcats will play their first match of the tourney against Ball State Friday at 4:30 p.m.
