The Bobcats’ wrestling team entered the weekend looking to get two big wins under their belt.

But apparently, there were other plans for them as they rolled into Kent State Friday. Despite the high hopes and national recognition, they dropped a Mid-American Conference match to their bitter rivals in the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center.

Redshirt freshman Cody Walters continued to build on his strong season early in the match by improving his record to 24-2 against Kent State’s Sam Wheeler at 175 lbs.

At heavyweight, Jeremy Johnson grappled with Kent’s Keith Witt and earned a 2-0 decision and improved to 24 wins on the year.

After that it was all Flashes’ as they won five of the last six matches.

Sunday, the Bobcats grappled with Bloomsburg, but were outwrestled 24-9 by the Huskies .

Walters, Johnson, and freshman Kagan Squire were the only three victories Sunday afternoon, just like on Friday night.

The team looks to bounce back this weekend as they finally return home for a MAC matchup against Buffalo.
