After Ohio swept its past two series, freshman pitcher Savannah Jo Dorsey and senior designated hitter Chelsea Hortman also swept this week’s Mid-American Conference East Division awards.

Dorsey received her second MAC East pitcher of the week honors this season, after finishing last week with a 3-1 record. She also earned both wins from inside the circle against rival Akron.

The freshman pitched 28.2 innings in four appearances, while striking out 43 batters and posting a 0.98 ERA. Dorsey’s most dominant game of the week came Saturday against the Zips, when she tossed a complete game, three-hit shutout and finished with a career-high 12 strikeouts.

Meanwhile, Hortman received MAC East player of the week honors, after recording seven hits, a pair of homers and eight RBI in six games. Her best game of the week came in the first game of a doubleheader against Wright State, when she went 3-for-3 with a triple and a homer at the plate.

This week was the first time in Hortman’s career she received th honors.

Despite being in the midst of a four-game winning streak, Ohio (23-22) will not take the field again until playing a double header against Western Michigan.
