Junior Juli Accurso earned the Mid-American Conference track athlete of the week honor for the second time in three weeks on Tuesday.

The award comes after Accurso competed in the 10,000-meters in the Stanford Invitational in Palo Alto, Calif., this past weekend and just fell two seconds short of the program title with a time of 33:52.33 minutes. The standout scored the time in the most competitive section of the invite, running against the likes of former 10,000-meter world champion Kara Goucher and former 1500-meter Pan-American champion Jordan Hasay of Oregon.

Accurso’s result ranks her fifteenth nationally among Division I athletes and gives her a good chance at receiving an invitation for the 10,000-meter NCAA championship in Eugene, Ore., in June.

The junior is also ranked 30th nationally in the 5000-meter race after racing to a new program record at the Wake Forrest Open two weeks ago. She crossed the finish line 46 seconds before anybody else did.
