Despite Ohio’s season having come to an end, as well as her career as a student-athlete with the Bobcats, graduated senior catcher Lauren Gellerman continues to receive recognition for her stellar play.

Gellerman became the third player in program history to be named a Capital One CoSIDA Academic All-American Thursday, as she received second team honors.

She finished the 2013 campaign with a team-high .405 batting average, 26 home runs and 60 RBI. Her homer total not only set a new program and Mid-American Conference record, but also ranks third in the NCAA.

The catcher finished her career with program-records in RBI (137) and home runs (48), while her career home run total is the second-highest in MAC history.

In the classroom, Gellerman finished her senior year with a 3.889 grade-point average, while studying integrated mathematics. She graduated with the rest of her class less than three weeks ago.

To receive the Capital One Academic All-American honors, a player must maintain a G.P.A. of at least 3.30, have reached sophomore athletic and academic standards and must be a key player on a varsity team that was nominated by one’s sports information director.

The Academic All-American honors mark one of many Gellerman has received this season after she was named a four-time MAC East player of the week, a two-time MAC scholar athlete of the week and to the First Team All-MAC.
