After helping secure Ohio’s seventh consecutive Mid-American Conference Tournament bid this weekend, senior catcher Lauren Gellerman was named the MAC East player of the week Monday.

Gellerman received the MAC honors for the fourth time this season, after hitting .900 in the final weekend of regular season play. She led the team with nine hits, three home runs, five runs batted in and six runs scored.

Her best game of the weekend came Friday against Eastern Michigan, when she finished 3-for-3 with a homer and triple.

The senior finished the regular season with 24 homers, which is not only a single-season record in program history, but also MAC history. She is currently second in the NCAA in home runs.

The honors marked the 10th time a Bobcat has earned MAC weekly honors this season.

No. 6 Ohio (26-27, 9-13 MAC) will begin MAC Tournament action Wednesday at 1:30 p.m. against No. 7 Bowling Green (26-22, 9-13 MAC) at Firestone Stadium in Akron.
