Despite Ohio dropping out of the top-25 polls Monday, graduate student middle blocker Alexis Pinson was named the Mid-American Conference East Division’s defensive player of the week for the second consecutive week.

This is the third time that she has received these honors this season.

In the team’s two matches this past weekend, Pinson recorded 24 kills nine digs, and 5.5 blocks. During Thursday’s match in Kent, she notched a team-high 13 kills, while also registering 11 kills and two aces on Saturday’s against Eastern Michigan.

Pinson is currently second in the MAC in blocks per set with 1.42, which is also good for 10th in in the NCAA. She also ranks fifth in the MAC in hitting percentage with a .345 clip and fourth in aces per set with 0.40 during her MAC matches.

The Bobcats (15-3, 5-1 MAC) lost their first conference match of the season against the Golden Flashes Thursday, but Bobcats responded to defeat Eastern Michigan 3-1 in Ypsilanti, Mich., on Saturday, and the squad is still tied for first place in the MAC.

Ohio had received 415 points in last week’s poll when it moved to No. 18, but it only received 87 points in Monday’s poll, placing the Bobcats at No. 26 in the nation.

The Bobcats are back at home this weekend as they face Toledo on Friday, before taking the court against Ball State on Saturday.
