No. 5 Ohio improved its overall record to 28-9 after a punishing 7-0 win against rival Kent State on Friday.

It was a dominant offensive performance for the Bobcats, as they registered 27 shots on goal while holding the Golden Flashes to just nine through the first two periods of play (the Flashes had three shots in the first period). The final SOG total was 36-13 in favor of Ohio.

A particularly good performance came from Ohio's top line. Patrick Spellacy led the team to victory, as he ended the night with a whopping five points (3 G, 2 A). His linemate, Brett Agnew, registered a goal and four assists, while center Matt Hartman finished with two points.

Freshman goalie Ryan Heltion earned the shutout, stopping all 13 Kent State shots.

The Bobcats will look to take game two from the Flashes on Saturday. The puck drops at Bird Arena at 7:30 p.m.
