Lauren Gellerman, a former softball standout for the Bobcats has joined Forli Softball Club in Italy, according to a news release from ohiobobcats.com.

 

The catcher was in search of a place to play professionally, when former Ohio assistant coach Sharonda McDonald told Gellerman about the opportunity. McDonald played for Forli in 2009. 

 

"This is the perfect, once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to go play softball in Italy," Gellerman told Ohio Athletics. "I'm really excited to learn about a new culture and languages and meet a lot of new people."

 

During her career, she batted .347, hit 48 homers and had 137 RBIs in her four-year stint, the latter two both records at Ohio. She also made First Team All Mid-American Conference twice.
