The Pawpaw Festival held its first year at Snow Fork Event Center in Nelsonville after moving from Lake Snowden in Albany. Despite the change in scenery, people from across the country gathered to celebrate Ohio’s state native fruit with live music, educational sessions, contests and more.

Sep. 21The Halloween season unofficially kicked off in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, with the 24th annual Mothman Festival. Thousands descended on the small town on the Ohio River to pay tribute to and celebrate the Mothman, a local cryptid said to reside in the region, as well as other paranormal folkloric creatures.

Sep. 15Ohio Football overcame heavy rain and a 14-0 deficit in the second quarter to defeat Jacksonville State in the Bobcats’ home opener at Peden Stadium by a final score of 29-27. After four periods of overtime, freshman quarterback Levi Davis ran into the end zone to score the game-winning two-point conversion.
Skate Jam rides on in spite of weather
Sep. 15After being delayed a day from Saturday due to rain, Skate Jam returned to the Athens Skate Park on Sunday, drawing a smaller but just as dedicated crowd. Though missing the live music originally planned, skateboarders, scooter riders, BMX riders and even roller skaters took to the skate park under the glaring sun to show off their tricks, compete and just have fun.
