AIDS-infected priest conveys message of love
"Perhaps my story is not a unique one, but it has all the elements of a made-for-TV movie," joked Robert L. Arpin, a gay Catholic priest with AIDS, who sopke in Irvine Hall the night before.
Arpin was ordained as a priest in 1972 and discovered he was gay six months later, he said. In 1987, he was diagnosed with AIDS and told he probably had 17 months to live, he told the crowd of about 150.
...
"Living with AIDS, I've learned to take each moment as a wonderful gift in which love can be received and given. I'm still sick, but I'm more alive than I've ever been," he said.
