It’s the 30th anniversary of the Game Boy; Athens Mayor Steve Patterson discusses his upcoming plans for the city

Today is Monday, April 22, 2019. Here’s what you need to know:

Good morning,

Though most of us celebrated Easter on Sunday, there was another special anniversary: 30 years of the lauded Game Boy.

When it released, Nintendo completely sold out its first run in Japan within two weeks. It sold 40,000 units the day it came to America.

The Game Boy is now a piece of history, but its unprecedented impact will forever remain intact. It was innovative in the development of video games in general, and it made portable gaming known to the world while charting the course for new gaming systems like the Nintendo Switch.

Celebrate its anniversary by finding your old Game Boy and playing your favorites.
