After years of lobbying efforts from the lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender community on campus, OU officials have decided to make the LGBT programs office full time.
The office has been a quarter-time operation because the LGBT programs coordinator only could work 10 hours per week. But officials are increasing the coordinator position to full time, said Mike Sostarich, vice president of student affairs.
The division of student affairs had extra resources after the resignation of Janice Edwards, associate vice president of student affairs for intercultural issues. Sostarich said officials used funding from the provost combined with freed up resources following Edwards-
