Craig Leon waited and waited, and late Sunday night the NCAA announced he made it to the NCAA Championships. Leon led Ohio at Saturday's Great Lakes Regional with a 15th-place finish individually, earning him an at-large bid to the NCAA Championships.
Although Leon was the highlight of the meet for the Bobcats, he was proudest of his team.
I am proud of this team G? the guys on this team have always given 100 percent and are dedicated to this program and their teammates
Leon said. It's been great.
Ridge Robinson finished 58th, Shamus Eaton took 71st, Scott Meyers placed 105th, and Todd Holbrook came in 120th. They combined for a 14th-place finish overall.
The top two teams automatically qualify for the NCAA Championships, along with the top four finishers who were not members of the top two teams. From there, a committee decides who will receive the at-large bids, so Leon had to wait and see how the other regional competitions went.
He will now head to Terre Haute, Ind., for the NCAA Cross Country Championships Nov. 29 at the LaVern Gibson Championship Cross Country Course.
The women were led by Annie Beecham, who finished 38th.- and that was winning a second MAC Championship title Reinhart said.
