The months of transitioning weather can make fashion so entertaining as each day seems to feel different. As summer blends into fall, there are many new outfits to start wearing. Months like September can feel like a weird gap in seasons, but there are great transition pieces to start incorporating into your wardrobe when the weather changes.
When it's hard to read if the weather is going to be on the colder or warmer side, bringing a sweater is a great option, no matter the occasion. Cardigans are always a good staple as they are light and easy to bring around in case it becomes colder than expected. They can be worn all year round; however, the beginning of fall is perfect to start bringing out warmer-colored cardigans. Wear more browns and oranges and embrace the seasonal changes. Maybe find some with patterns and intricate designs to add something extra to an outfit. These sweaters are so simple but never a letdown.
Denim jackets are another coat option for the chilly, but not freezing, months. They are so easy to style up or down and can be worn on a night out or a trip to the coffee shop. Try different washes to pair with certain outfits. Different lengths and cuts can make a big difference as well.
Pants are a struggle when the weather is ever-changing. Jeans versus jean shorts is a lot to commit to when one isn’t sure how intense the breeze or sun may be. Baggy jeans are probably the safest bet, though. They are practical for early fall as they are breathable enough in warm weather, but don’t expose someone to the cold. Stores such as Pacsun and Hollister have a variety of oversized jeans to select from. To create a simple fall outfit, throw on a pair of low-rise, baggy jeans, a simple tank and a detailed cardigan.
Of course, dresses and skirts are not lost with the summer. Mini dresses and skirts go well with high boots and nice jackets. Find a cute plaid skirt or even a sweater dress. Longer dresses pair well with simple heels and big jackets.
To complete any outfit, a great pair of shoes is essential, and this season, boots are making a comeback. Mini skirts and high boots are perfect for September weather and go with each other beautifully. The same goes for platform boots and a good pair of loose jeans. Boots are a defining piece of the fall season with their versatility and comfort.
There are also specific fall trends to look out for when gathering outfit inspiration. Dark brown is a color that is expected to be seen in the fall and winter months, alongside lace and pencil skirts. The fall can bring a multitude of creative choices and patterns. Accessorize and be creative while researching trends for inspiration.
Getting back into a routine as school starts is a challenge. Classes are starting, extracurricular activities are kicking in and the weather is slowly but surely shifting. There are so many options to bundle up or be cool in the heat. Throw on a cardigan or jean jacket and find some new boots, as the fall season is about keeping the staples but adding a couple of layers.
