The Bobcats grabbed the top two spots in each of the first two events Friday and never looked back.
Ohio (8-1, 4-1 MAC) jumped out to a 30-6 lead over Eastern Michigan (6-2, 3-2 MAC) after the 400-yard Medley Relay and the 1000-yard Freestyle, and put it on cruise control en route to a 161-139 victory.
It was really good to (get ahead early) so you don't have to scramble at the end and make up points
said senior captain Emily Wylam, Instead we were able to focus more on our races.
Wylam led the way for the Bobcats, winning both the 100-yard backstroke in a time of 58.11 seconds and the 200-yard backstroke in 2:06.98 seconds.
In addition to Wylam, freshman Amanda Cecere took first in the 100-yard butterfly in 58.02 seconds and also won the 200-yard butterfly with a time of 2:03.09.
It's a testament to how deep we truly are - the freshmen are truly a big part of our success Wylam said. They really step up every week.
Today was definitely a complete team effort
Werner said, whether it's via performance or supporting your teammates.
We had a lot people doing things that they haven't done all year long, so that's where depth is showing.
Eastern Michigan took first in five out of the last six events
but Ohio's lead was big enough to withstand the surge.
This time of the year, your bodies are a little tired, so the team that had the lead early had the advantage, Werner said.
The win kept Ohio's home streak intact. The Bobcats are 5-0 at the OU Aquatic Center this season
including three in the last ten days.
When you have a long trip like [Eastern Michigan], it's definitely an advantage to swim at home, Werner said.
Said Wylam
It's a comfort thing. Since we practice here every day, I think it definitely is an advantage.
The Bobcats look to keep their winning ways on Tuesday when they host Marshall.
Marshall is a good team, Werner said. They're well coached and they've got some great swimmers, so we're going to have to be pretty good Tuesday to come away with a win.

It's just the most frustrating thing, said a visibly frustrated Billy Hemann
I don't know what it is. I just have no clue what to do.
