Breaking: Plane crashes near Ohio University airport, one fatality confirmed

Albany Fire Department has confirmed one fatality in the crash.

"The only thing we’re putting out is that there's a plane down, there is a DOA (dead on arrival) and the state highway patrol is there investigating," said Steve Goodin, assistant chief at the Albany Fire Department.

Law enforcement, fire and emergency services are on the scene of a small aircraft crash near Albany, Ohio.

The Albany Police Department has confirmed a plane crashed south of Ohio University near the intersection of U.S. 50 and U.S. 32. The department received a call around 6:40 p.m. reporting the crash; according to the department's Facebook page, the Ohio State Highway Patrol will be conducting the investigation.

Though news outlets and social media — such as the @OUScanner Twitter account — are reporting a fatality, law enforcement were unable to confirm to The Post any fatalities.
