Ohio University’s Athens campus experienced an unscheduled electrical outage Tuesday afternoon, affecting dozens of academic, athletic and residence buildings, according to a university alert.
The outage was first reported at 1:30 p.m., with an updated alert issued at 1:57 p.m. Electricians are on site working to identify the source of the outage and determine next steps for restoring power.
As of 2:40 p.m., power was restored to a portion of campus, but multiple buildings, including Grover Center, Ping Center, Stocker Center, Walter Fieldhouse and Peden Stadium, remain without electricity.
The university remains open, and no estimated time for full restoration has been announced. Additional updates will be shared on the OHIO Alert system as they become available.
