When I used to date men who owned expensive gaming PCs, I found they had certain kinks relating to gaming that other men didn’t. For example, I recall a conversation about “game head”: receiving head while playing a video game. This kink seems to be a huge fantasy for men who game.
On Reddit, users discussed whether or not they had given someone head while they were gaming. One user wrote, “I’ve been on both ends of this, and it’s pretty amazing. Kind of hard to concentrate though, still great.” Other users agree that the experience is a proud one.
It seems that for a multitude of reasons, gamers are not only exposed to more outward sexuality through games, but are kinkier than you think.
It’s also more common for gamers to have long-distance relationships. These relationships usually exist on the instant messaging social platform, Discord. Though sexting is nothing new, gamers take it to the next level with virtual reality.
There are games specifically designed for gamers to have a virtual or fake girlfriend. This can be used to replace sexting and involves no interaction with real people online, leading to fantasies of having sex with fictional characters, which is a common kink in gaming spaces. Other users on Quora say that gamers use Artificial Intelligence girlfriend apps because they “feel lonely” or find real relationships “complicated and confusing.”
To explore fantasies with fictional characters, some partake in cosplay during sex. It’s different from roleplay, as the gamer usually fantasizes about being with the fictional character, rather than their partner. Roleplay during sex is nothing new, but gamers take it to the next level.
Hyperspecific kinks also seem to emerge from the gaming community or those adjacent to it. In the past, those who watched anime and played games favored tentacle kinks, but a new survey by HotPink Games shared that consumers want “monster girls.”
Tentacles in Japanese porn, or hentai, started as an erotic image, leading consumers to love the exotic bondage and use of tentacles. Similar to the exotic animalistic features, monster girls are a fantasy addition to hentai, as they can have exotic features. Users on Reddit shared how monster girls are interesting because of their features and also can be stronger than normal girls, turning it into a form of domination kink.
Online spaces often sexualize women, and the fight is endless; however, 53% of gamers are men. It’s a low majority, but games involving porn are targeted towards them. Unfortunately, women in gaming spaces and platforms continue to be overlooked when discussing over-sexualization and stereotypes.
Sexism in gaming culture is still rampant, and it turns into dynamics of viewers and gamers sexualizing women gamers or female characters. That conversation is important when you discuss sex in online spaces. Safety online should be everyone’s priority to avoid unwanted sexual behaviors.
Many female gamers have spoken on this issue. Pokimane, a popular Twitch live-streamer, wrote “stop sexualizing people without their consent,” in a post on X.
Talking about pleasures and kinks in the gaming community cannot be fun without discussing how women, fiction or not, are treated.
Another kink I’ve noticed has been a form of public sex. To add on to giving head while gaming, I have noticed gamers interested in pleasuring or being pleasured while a headset microphone is on. This can be dangerous for those who are listening. Also, a rightful ban report can be made on your account for disruptive or inappropriate sounds while wearing a headset in active game lobbies.
I personally will never involve myself in these kinks. It is also one of the many reasons I no longer date gamers. If you are interested in any of these kinks, that is between you and your partner and your guidelines to consent and safety.
Many gaming conventions have adult sections with sexual topics, so there is no doubt that gamers have kinks. People have noticed a lot of overlap with those in gaming spaces and kink spaces, with many sharing similar interests. However, there is a possibility that gamers are more open to their sexuality than other communities because they can remain behind a screen or a mic, rightfully or wrongfully so.
