After several months, the Ohio University Board of Trustees has chosen an interim secretary to pick up where Alan Geiger left off.
Tom Davis, a faculty member in the Counseling and Higher Education department, began as the new secretary to the trustees on Monday.
I'm getting a taste of what this is going to be like. I spent Monday and Wednesday here and Tuesday teaching
Davis said.
According to a press release from the university, he will be spending 51 percent of his time teaching and the other 49 percent working with the trustees.
As to the nature of his work with the trustees, Davis added, for the most part I'm going to be working with the board to set the agenda to make sure the policy of the university is carried out.Originally, the board said that an interim secretary would be chosen by the board meeting on June 30. The board, however, was still in the interview process at the time of the meeting.
We just didn't give this the priority it needed to get it finished by June 30 said Dan Delawder, chairman of the trustees.
Davis is succeeding Geiger, who retired June 30 after 40 years with the university. Geiger was hired in 1967 as campus planner and joined the president's office staff in 1984.G
