Weekender Briefs: Yoga, music, trivia

This week, Athens offers events for all visitors and residents to enjoy.

Tuesday, Sept. 1

Sunrise yoga is held on East Green. Beginning at 8 a.m., the event is open to all levels of experience.

Admission: Free

Ohio University Chillicothe Campus hosts Bagels and Bobcats Syllabus Smash in Bennett Hall Lobby and Art Gallery, located at 101 University Drive. Bobcats can pick up a bagel and get organized for the semester from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Admission: Free

Concerts on the Green, a celebration of the arts, kicks off on College Green in the West Portico with a performance from the Marching 110. 

Admission: Free

Wednesday, Sept. 2

The Ohio Valley Museum of Discovery hosts its weekly Discover Lab. Tweens and teens can visit the tech studio to explore a variety of projects related to robotics, programming and more. The event begins at 4 p.m. and ends at 6 p.m. 

Admission: Free with museum entry

Thursday, Sept. 3

Ohio Women’s soccer faces the University of Pittsburgh at Chessa Field, 121 S. Shafer St., at 4 p.m. The match will be streamed on ESPN.

Casa Nueva, located at 6 W. State St., is hosting Mixtape Music Trivia beginning at 8 p.m.

Admission: Free

Thread Magazine collaborates with the Union Bar to host a 2016-themed night with music from the year. There will also be a best-dressed competition. Doors open at 9 p.m.

Admission: $9 for ages 18-20, $6 for ages 21+

Friday, Sept. 4

Women’s volleyball plays Youngstown State University in the Hampton Inn Invitational at 1 p.m. in Indianapolis. 

Saturday, Sept. 5

The Union Bar, 18 W. Union St., hosts performers Reaper on Red, Naked Eye and Marottes. Doors open at 8 p.m., with music starting at 9 p.m.

Admission: $9 for ages 18-20, $6 for ages 21+

Sunday, Sept. 6

Ohio women’s field hockey faces Wake Forest University at noon in North Carolina.
