Ohio University's Bicentennial Campaign, which began in November 2000 with the goal to raise $200 million in celebration of the university's 200th anniversary, went more than 11 percent over its goal. The campaign, which officially ended June 30, raised $221,442,916 to support students and faculty, innovative programs, technological enhancements and select capital improvements.
More than 85,000 people and organizations made nearly 250,000 individual gifts during the campaign.
Some 48,639 alumni made 154,507 individual commitments to the campaign for a total of $142.6 million. Faculty and staff contributed $10.7 million (surpassing their $6 million goal). Two-thirds of the university's employees (2,726 individuals) made gifts. In addition, the Bicentennial Campaign marked the first time that OU's regional campuses participated in a campaign. Together, the Chillicothe, Eastern, Lancaster, Southern and Zanesville campuses raised $22 million.
