When you hear the plucky banjo and the twang of Uwe Kruger’s voice, Switzerland might be one of the last countries you would guess as the birthplace of the bluegrass band Kruger Brothers.
Brothers Jens and Uwe Kruger started playing together as children, performing regularly by the time they were 11 and 12-years old. The duo later recruited Joel Landsberg, an American from New York City, and soon after made its first appearance in the American music world with its 1997 album, Behind the Barn, Vol. 2.
The band originally stuck to a traditional repertoire but later turned to song writing and composition. They now play a rich mix of traditional and original, resulting in a mix that is “unpretentious, cultivated and delightfully fresh,” according to the trio’s website.
Stuart’s Opera House will welcome the trio to its stage tomorrow night at 8:30 p.m. Tickets are still available for $20 (box) and $15 (floor) in advance or $25 (box) and $20 (floor) at the door.
Before the show, Stuart’s will also host the Fall Wine Express, a scenic train ride through the Hocking Valley. The ride will include wine and cheese as well. Tickets are $35 first class or $25 for coach. Patrons can purchase a special package for both the Fall Wine Express and the Kruger Brothers show for just $35.
