April may seem like a slow time for movies because many of the film awards ceremonies have passed, but don’t be fooled — some of the most-anticipated movies will be in theaters this month. Here are four movies to go see in April:
A Quiet Place
This horror movie starring John Krasinski and Emily Blunt will come to theaters April 6. The movie follows a family living in a post-apocalyptic world where they must navigate their lives without making a sound. The creatures that have invaded hunt people through sound, making daily life hard for the family with two young children and a baby on the way. Krasinski did not only act in the movie; he directed it.
You Were Never Really Here
This thriller stars Joaquin Phoenix, an army veteran and former FBI agent plays a man who rescues trafficked girls. He also suffers from post-traumatic stress disorder and cares for his elderly mother in their New York City home. After Phoenix’s character tries to rescue an abducted senator’s daughter, the plan goes awry because of government corruption. He must figure out who was paying who in order to find the abducted girl. This thriller is coming to theaters April 6.
Chappaquiddick
Chappaquiddick follows the 1969 incident when Senator Ted Kennedy (Jason Clarke) drove his car into a lake and ended up killing Mary Jo Kopechne (Kate Mara), Kennedy's political campaign specialist. The film looks at the social and political scandal that followed the incident which led Kennedy to not run for president. The film will come to theaters April 6.
Avengers: Infinity War
The Avengers are back on the big screen with Thanos, a villain looking to wipe the universe. Thanos plans to get the six infinity stones in order to destroy the universe, already having a few. The Avengers and their allies, including the Guardians of the Galaxy, the Black Panther (Chadwick Boseman), Dr. Strange (Benedict Cumberbatch) and Spiderman (Tom Holland) must fight to keep Thanos at bay and potentially sacrifice it all. This action film will be in theaters April 27.
