Bova named MAC Pitcher of the Week

Chris Bova was named the Mid-American Conference East Division Pitcher of the Week after pitching a complete game one-hitter against Buffalo Friday.

He gave up one unearned run and struck out seven batters while walking none in his second career complete game.

Bova leads Bobcat pitchers and is sixth in the MAC with 65 1-3 innings pitched. He also leads Ohio and is seventh in the MAC with 52 strikeouts.

He is seventh in the MAC holding opposing batters to a .233 batting average.

Bova is 4-5 this year with a 3.44 ERA, which is 11th in the conference.

He received the award earlier this season on March 22. This is the fourth time in his collegiate career that he has been honored.

Bova was also named MAC Scholar Athlete of the Week and holds a 3.31 GPA while majoring in criminology.

Game rescheduled

The Bobcats will make up their game against Youngstown State on May 12 at 6 p.m. The game will be played at Youngstown State.

It was originally scheduled for April 21, but was postponed due to bad weather.

Ohio remains in 4th

Ohio (12-23 overall, 6-9 MAC) is currently in fourth place in the East Division standings behind division leader Miami. Akron is second with Kent State in third place.

Eastern Michigan (8-4 MAC) currently leads the West Division over Ball State.

The top two teams from each division qualify for the MAC Tournament along with the next two teams with the highest winning percentage.
