Eta Sigma Phi, a national classics society, will provide a free movie screening of Zack Snyder's 2007 blockbuster 300 with a question and answer session tonight from 6 to 10 p.m. in Scripps Auditorium.
Three professors from the Department of Classics and World Religions will lead the question-and-answer session following the movie.
Professors Ruth Palmer, Jim Andrews and William Owens will discuss the accuracy of the Hollywood version to the real story of the Spartans and Persians and provide more historical evidence and insight, said Eta Sigma Phi's president, Alana Newman.
Some of the topics discussed will include the description of the Spartan women and influences on them, the accuracy of the Persians and the similarities and differences of the war tactics and ideals of that time, Newman said.
