Come to 'The Post's' senate debate

The issues candidates will talk about concern you directly.

Tuesday’s installment of our “The Degree of Debt” series took a closer look at student activism stemming from the rising cost of higher education.

Many Ohio University students have been outspoken about their disdain for the university’s new fixed tuition model, dubbed “The OHIO Guarantee,” in addition to rising interest rates on student loans. Plus, students — who are typically only able to hold minimum- or low-wage jobs on campus while having to pay off tuition and loans — aren’t able to bring in the amount of income that will help them avoid being in debt upon graduation.

Many of those problems will be topics discussed at The Post’s Student Senate debate at 6 p.m. Wednesday in Porter Hall 105.

Students, we encourage you to attend and ask next year’s crop of potential senate leaders what they plan on doing to combat the rising cost of education at OU — a topic that several candidates have been vocal about in the past and is applicable to all OU students.

Be sure to hold them accountable, as those students will be the ones tasked with representing your views — and fighting for them — among many of OU’s top administrators next year.

We look forward to seeing you Wednesday night.
