Keep the Lights On, because they are coming.
Amish Electric Chair, a three-piece punk getup, includes singer Neil Tuuri, along with his brother, drummer Scotty Tuuri, and bassist John Sava. The band has been together for six years and is releasing its debut album Keep the Lights On. -
Neil Tuuri said. Keep the Lights On is kind of a last-ditch effort.
The band also kept with the anti-establishment, punk ethic by recording the album in Neil's own personal studio and then ending it out for mixing and mastering. Lyrically, the band also maintains a high-energy, political bite. - Neil said. Most things are ambiguous; they should not be taken for face value. But sometimes there are things that are just blatantly political.
Aside from politics, Amish Electric Chair said they draw inspiration from bands such as Bouncing Souls, Fugazi, Against Me!, and Hot Water Music.
We take certain elements from those bands Neil said. No one song sounds like one particular band.
With these meshed musical references in hand, the band will be releasing Keep the Lights On this Saturday at a matinee show at The Union. The CD will be available for purchase at the show for $5. Tonight, they will be appearing on the ACRN radio show No Experience Necessary, a radio program dedicated to Do-It-Yourself music, run by Erin Schroettinger. But the band has also moved on toward writing new material, having completed a few songs that will appear on its next album. They are also planning a small tour in the South this December. -
so we are trying to put ourselves out in front of them with this tour
Neil said.
The last tour the band was able to go on was in the summer of 2005.
We drove around in a short bus actually; it was fun
Scotty said. It broke down in Philadelphia and cost $600 to fix. G? That was all of our money.
