One of the brighter spots in the Bobcats' 18-point loss to Toledo was the play of Erin Isbell. The Gahanna native nearly had her fourth double-double of the season, dumping in 10 points and eight rebounds.
Erin's just a very aggressive player for us. Candace Bates said. She gets a lot of offensive and defensive boards which helps her offense.
Ohio coach Lynn Bria said that Isbell will have the daunting task of guarding Andrea Csaszar and maybe even switching over to Lindsay Shearer. Csaszar, a 6-foot-6-inch redshirt junior for Kent State, has come alive a year after missing all of the 2002-2003 season with an anterior cruciate ligament tear. She's one of the more versatile players in the Mid-American Conference, averaging 13.4 points, 9.1 rebounds, and 2.81 blocks per game. Her MAC-leading 2.81 bpg will definitely be a concern for the Bobcats.
Another concern will definitely be Lindsay Shearer, who is currently averaging 13.2 ppg and eight rpg.
They're a lot like the Ball State team with (Kate) Endress on the team
you can't just really focus on one player because the other players are pretty good too. Bria said. But certainly we will be very aware of Csaszar and Shearer. Those two players are their main threats and we'll put our best defenders on them.
Houston we have a problem
One of the biggest problems for the Bobcats this season has been putting together a full game of solid play. This couldn't have been more evident in Saturday's 67-49 loss to Toledo. Ohio was tied with Toledo at 26-apiece with less than a minute remaining in the first half. Then the Rockets went on an 11-0 run that stretched four minutes into the second half. They would never look back and cruised to a road victory.
Hornsburger has rough outing
Freshman Angel Hornsburger had eight points in the game against Toledo, but in a turn of events her age finally reared its head. She had one of her worst games of the season as she turned the ball over six times. There will be more growing pains, but the youngster has shown potential in several games this season for Bobcat fans.
