Ohio State Sen. Eric Fingerhut, D-Cleveland, will face Norbert Dennerll Jr., a lifelong politician and educator, in the March 2 primary for Ohio's Senate seat.
The primary winner will face incumbent U.S. Sen. George Voinovich, R-Ohio, or his Republican challenger John Mitchel.
Voinovich has come under fire from both Democratic Candidates for his performance in the Capitol.
Fingerhut, who visited Athens last week for a Democratic fundraiser at the Blue Gator, said the main issues in the election are job creation and Ohio's economy.
The choice is clear
Fingerhut said of his planned campaign against Voinovich. (Voinovich) is a candidate who is nice but failed to prepare Ohio for the 21st century and he has to accept responsibility for that.
