Variety is the spice

The Post endorses Amy Flowers, Elahu Gosney and Jim Sands for Athens City Council at large.

Incumbent Amy Flowers no longer claims to be the voice of the students, but as a graduate student at Ohio University, she still is connected to student concerns. As chair of the transportation committee, she is very concerned with safety for drivers, cyclists, and pedestrians, and with parking ' a severe problem in Athens.

Jim Sands, also an incumbent, brings extensive experience to the job, now finishing his fifth term on city council. He takes a moderate stance on many issues and shows serious concern for the city's infrastructure.

Newcomer Elahu Gosney would bring new insight to the council. While council often seems to get caught up in lofty, sweeping ideas, Gosney points out small things that would make the city more efficient ' for example, online bill payment and better communication about boil orders.

With a combination of experience and new ideas, plus diversity of opinion and willingness to compromise, Flowers, Sands and Gosney are the candidates to choose for Athens City Council.

Editorials represent the majority opinion of the executive editors.
