Bed Post: Embrace your sexuality this Halloween

When little girls with big dreams turn into college co-eds with low neck lines, Halloween costumes change from innocent fantasies to flirtatious, tight fitting and sometimes just down right raunchy pieces of cloth.

This change in costume has been normalized in our culture over the past couple of decades, and it is not a tradition that should be frowned upon. There is just something empowering about putting on a ridiculous little outfit and not having to explain yourself.

Halloween should be a free pass to let your freak flag fly. So why not? If you’re worried, however, about pushing the limits or going too far, here are a few tips to help you keep it sexy and fun so you don't feel too insecure.

Think outside the box when coming up with your costume idea. Being sexy and creative is often really fun. Using a “punny” costume is a good way to look hot but still get in touch with your silly side. Doing something like chicken cordon bleu — a tight little blue dress with a rubber chicken on a cord around your neck — is good way to start conversations with cute guys at house parties.

Getting together with a handful of friends and coordinating your slutty outfits is a great way to build up your self-esteem and boost the confidence of the entire group. Personally speaking, I tend to feel more comfortable when grouped with friends and people I like. When dressing a little scandalously, it's nice to have your girlfriends to back you up.

Halloween is about fulfilling personal fantasies and dressing up to be who or what YOU want to be, so don’t feel pressured to be anything you’re not. If you’re not comfortable showing a lot of skin and want to keep your costume conservative and fun, you should. A sense of humor is always sexy, so be sure to flaunt that every day of the year.
