Ohio outfielder Phil Sabatini recently became the first Ohio student-athlete to achieve ultimate elite athlete status in the three-year old program started by Ohio Director of Strength and Conditioning Sonny Sano and assistant Chad Shultz to evaluate Bobcat student-athletes.
Every sport has its own set of goals to reach in categories such as bench press, squats, vertical jumps, pull-ups and the 60-yard dash for baseball. To achieve Ultimate Elite Athlete, the athlete must score 9 of 10 in each category. The athletes are tested on a 10-point scale, with one being the lowest and 10 being the highest score an athlete can receive.
