Ohio University students get a chance to swish, smell and taste wine tonight with University Program Council's Wine 101.
The event will feature four types of Camelot wine and appetizers.
There will be two speakers that will tell you how to pour the wine and how to do the swishing and the tasting and smelling. Also there will be four little appetizers of various foods to pair with the wines
said Allie Kattoua, an OU senior who is studying anthropology and the UPC Special Events Co-Chairwoman.
Wine distributor Ray Strickmaker and Fran McFadden, who is the director of the Atrium Café, will give a short speech.
They will be speaking about the certain etiquettes that go along with different types of wine. What food goes best with them and how they should be served exactly said Marisa Grill, an OU junior and public relations director of UPC.
Kattoua said the event is an opportunity for upperclassmen to prepare for their future.
It is so students can know a little bit more when they are sitting at a restaurant with an employer
and they bring out a bottle of wine and you are like
'I don't know what to do.' You might have a little more background knowledge now
she said.
UPC is also sponsoring the event in an effort to give students a chance to show that they can drink responsibly.
There is a stigma involved with having events with alcohol that we will go overboard
but I think this will really prove that our students here are responsible enough and mature enough that we can handle these kinds of events
Grill said.
