An 18-year-old woman was charged with felonious assault Friday after allegedly stabbing a bartender at an Uptown bar.
Senequa S. Barnes, of 45 E. Fourth St., in The Plains, was arrested late Thursday night after a fight broke out at Pawpurr's Bar, 37 N. Court St., said Athens Police Department Capt. Tom Pyle.
We got a call from the bar staff that there was a fight with a possible knife
he said. When (officers) arrived they observed two or three bouncers holding a female on the ground saying she had pulled a knife on them.
According to the report, Barnes had been involved in a fight with another woman in the bar around 2 a.m. Bar employees made the woman exit through the front door and Barnes leave through the back door. Barnes, however, fought back and punctured one of the bartenders in the neck. The stab wound was minor and did not require treatment, Pyle said.
When officers arrived, bar employees were holding Barnes on the ground. Officers asked the bartenders to let her up because she was bleeding, he said.
Barnes, however, fought the officers.

Pyle said.
After subduing her, Barnes was arrested on felonious assault charges. She was treated for a self-inflicted wound to her chin and transported to Southeast Ohio Regional Jail, he said.
Felonious assault is a second-degree felony, punishable by up to eight years in prison and a $15,000 fine.
Barnes had three knives on her while in the bar, including a Balisong, or butterfly knife, which has two handles attached to the blade and can be flipped with one hand, Pyle said.
Barnes was released Friday to her mother's custody after appearing in Athens Municipal Court. She is scheduled for a preliminary hearing at 2 p.m. Sept. 30.
