Your Turn: Baker University Center is not the only thing for 'The Post' to bash

Usually I am not one to vent, but after seeing the comic in Tuesday's paper, a nerve was struck. It is common knowledge that this paper is against Baker University Center, but my question is, is that all you have to write about? It seems to me that whenever I open The Post, in one way or another it is bashing the center that your office currently resides in. Do you feel that when the university started to build Baker a few years ago, they decided, Okay

we'll build this center then in a few years we'll piss everyone off and cut sports teams and lay off workers. I hardly think that's what was going through their minds. It was terrible for our school to go through the cuts of both sports teams and union workers, but I don't feel that you need to involve Baker in every issue around campus. Being an employee in the center, I understand that many students feel like the building isn't catering to the student body's needs and is somewhat a waste. Things like midnight movies, coffeehouse concerts, various game nights and flying in comedians to perform are trying to change that. We provide tabling and conference rooms for student organizations, and if you wander around the third floor, you can see many student offices. The same things that go on here went on in the old Baker University Center; it's just that this one is more well-equipped to handle the load. Being smack in the middle of campus just makes students more aware of the business that runs through the building. Everyone who works here is well aware of the changes that need to be made, and believe me, the administrative directors here listen to every single issue that comes their way. When prospective students walk into this building, their first words are wow. I would hate for them to pick up that day's edition of The Post and feel otherwise.
