The Ohio University Observatory will be hosting its last Public Telescope Nights of the summer on July 1 and 2 from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. at the Ridges. While the event will be canceled if it is too cloudy and/or stormy, visitors have the chance to see clusters of stars, distant galaxies (given the right conditions), planets in our solar system and more. Parking is available for free after 5 p.m. in university lots 200, 201 and 202.

The Union Bar, 18 W. Union St., will be hosting Peach Fuzz, Inch and Ryan Kilkenny to play on Friday. Doors open at 7 p.m. and the show starts at 8 p.m. More information about the musicians can be found on their Instagram accounts, which are tagged on the digital flier posted by The Union.

Come see a new exhibit, “Merging Concepts VIII: Connections, Remembered,” at the Kennedy Museum of Art, 100 Ridges Circle, from 1 p.m. until 5 p.m. The exhibit, unveiled April 22, was researched and created by students of Ohio University’s College of Fine Arts, specifically those enrolled in the Museum Studies Certificate Program.

The Athens County Public Library, 30 Home St., hosts a weekly Dungeons and Dragons meeting in the library’s large conference room from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. Whether a longtime slayer of dragons or the latest season of Stranger Things has sparked a newfound interest in the game, the event is geared towards young adults and open to all who are interested in participating.

Ohio University Libraries is showcasing an exhibit honoring Juneteenth that can be viewed at Alden Library, 30 Park Pl., from 12 p.m. until 7 p.m. (and from 8 a.m. until 7 p.m. throughout the week). While Juneteenth was on June 19, Ohio University Libraries pledged, “to make an annual major acquisition that celebrates African American history and the spirit of Juneteenth.” In addition to the in-person exhibit, there is also a virtual one that includes rare books and special collections.

Head back to The Union on Saturday to catch three more artists’ sets with doors opening at 7 p.m. and the show starting at 8 p.m. Speed Knobs, Hell’s Fire Sinners and Johnny Wayne Knievel are all expected to perform.

The Southern Ohio Copperheads will play the Licking Co Settlers at 1:05 p.m. at Bob Wren Stadium, 140 S. Shafer St. Make sure to stay through the whole game, as there will be a fireworks display after the game.

“Layered and Stitched: 50 Years of Innovative Art” will be on display at The Dairy Barn Arts Center, 8000 Dairy Ln, and the gallery can be viewed from 12 p.m. until 5 p.m. The exhibit went on display on May 27 and is “a retrospective showcase of 50 fine art quilts by renowned master artists,” that showcases fine art quilts from the hands of early pioneers of the 1960’s through modern fine art quilts made today.
Admission: $7 general admission, $5 for students and seniors and free for members
Hocking Hills Jellystone Park in Nelsonville, OH, will be hosting the Red, White and Boo Boo 4th of July Bash – Blast through the Past (decades) will begin July 1 and last through July 5 with the celebration starting at 1 a.m. each day. The park also offers a number of fun activities such as a floating water slide, playground, private fishing lake, swimming pool and more.
Admission: Price to camp varies from $59 to $105 for a site and from $156 to $300 for a cabin.
