Athens Police Department has identified two suspects who allegedly committed a late night robbery in a cemetery Tuesday.
Police responded to a call of a man attempting to steal a headstone from the West State Street Cemetery at about 11:05 p.m., according to a police report for APD Lt. Anthony Fish.
The officer who arrived on seen recovered with headstone with the help of a witness. The witness took a photograph of the suspect as he fled the screen by vehicle with another person, according to the report.
The suspects were identified and criminal charges are pending. The charges on the report are vandalism and criminal trespassing.
