Women's club basketball off to a satisfactory start

The inaugural season for the Ohio women's club basketball team is off to a winning start. The team has used hot shooting from behind the three-point line in order to win its first two games of the season.

The team's first game was last Sunday, Jan. 11, at Ohio University's Southern Branch. Ohio used eight three-pointers to beat the Southern Branch, 66-55. The game was a battle in the first half, but Ohio was able to pull away in the second half thanks to the shooting of Jessica Ramsay and Nicol Ellis. Both Ramsay and Ellis totaled 16 points as Ohio collected its first win in club history.

The Bobcats hit the road again last Saturday, this time going to Ashland. The good shooting would continue as Ohio (2-0) drained another 12 three-point shots and soundly defeated the Eagles, 90-39. Sally Dunaway was the leading scorer in this contest for Ohio. She came off the bench and tallied 15 points, including four from beyond the arc. Jaclyn Schwieterman contributed 14 points. Ellis dropped 13 points with nine of those points coming in the first half. The Bobcats took an early lead in this game and never looked back, as they led throughout the entire contest.

Synchronized Skating Team Results

The Ohio synchronized skating team was in action last weekend as it competed in the Mid America Synchronized Skating competition in Frasier, Mich. The Bobcats took sixth place out of seven teams.
