Post Letter: Local atheist stands for rights of non-religious

Atheism is not a religion. Religion is religion. Atheism is a philosophy of rationality, proof and response to superstition, like theism (godism). We know our species, since the first, invents “God(s)” and other unbeing, like zombies in the movies. I’m not surprised Professor Hays wouldn’t tell The Post this; it’s because he’s faculty. They shrink from President McDavis’ theist stare?

Athens Atheists (b. 1984) has succeeded in washing Athens clean (almost) of superstitious religious claims. We continue to petition an unhearing local board of education to stop our public schools from closing for Good Friday (see below). Eliot Kalman, a Jew, and I have petitioned our unhearing county commissioners to remove that offending “church directory” from the People’s Courthouse.

“Good Friday”: The Jewish Christian Bible claims Jesus died on Good Friday. False. The Dead Sea Scrolls (the Vatican understandably rejects these documents) prove Jesus survived his crucifixion on the high crossbeam telephone-sized pole. He, Mary Magdalene (first wife), and his followers fled to Rome, set up New Jerusalem kibbutz, and thrived until the Great Jewish Uprising in Rome and Jerusalem, which probably killed all Jews in the three-year slaughter by Roman “Christians” in 1945–1943 B.P. (Before Present), or Roman calendar 4 “B.C.” (Lydia was Jesus’s second wife, who produced three or four children between Mary and Lydia.)

Also read Pagan Origins of the Christ Myth by the late John G. Jackson, black Harvard University professor. And read Irving Stone’s pioneering book, When God Was a Woman.

Those will keep you occupied, as you wade through Oliver Stone’s groundbreaking new, 800-some page book The Untold History of the United States. A combat veteran of our war in Vietnam, Stone tells all.

Any/all of these publications… oh, and Jack Herer’s The Emperor Wear No Clothes (cannabis re-legalization)… will make an excellent term paper, master’s and Ph. D thesis, and speech before the Ohio Legislature when you link with Ohio Rights Group, and Ohio Rep. (or Sen.) Hagan. They are petitioning the Statehouse to re-legalize reefer for medical marijuana purposes. Become active!

John Spofforth is a local artist and a 1968 alumnus of Ohio University (Master’s of Fine Arts). He is co-director of Athens Atheists.
