When you see the name National Association for the Advancement of Colored People
you think, Here is an organization that clearly cares about the advancement the growth the well-being
the stability of minority people - brown-
black- and tinted-skin folks. But how can this organization that cares about advancing people of color take a pro-abortion stance?
This is bewildering, because it seems most national/international organizations, such as the NAACP, base their decisions and actions on the trends of their target audiences. But the NAACP must not pay too much attention to what researchers are saying these days. (They must be talking to every minority woman in the United States themselves.) According to the Alan Guttmacher Institute, in 2002, about 58 percent of abortions were performed on minority women - 31 percent were black and 20 percent were Hispanic.
Abortions do nothing to advance any minority race. Abortion is a deceptive, money-driven business that could not care less about women's rights. The only question the clinics ask is: Do you have the $200 to $500 to perform this procedure? Abortion takes away innocent lives. It breaks apart families. It causes a lifetime of traumatic stress, grief and shame in women. It steals life and replaces it with hopelessness, isolation and rejection.
NAACP Chairman Julian Bond said, The NAACP has long been determined to ensure that women of color face no obstacles in accessing every kind of health care; the right to reproductive choice and control of her own body is one of the most important.
Tell the truth about abortions - the increased risk of breast cancer, increased possibility to miscarry and increased chances of developing Pelvic Inflammatory Disease and other diseases and infections.
Inadequate finances is the number one reason women choose to abort their children. Mr. Bond, if you and the organization really want to eliminate the obstacles in accessing every kind of health care
educate people about the services that help and assist expectant mothers. The Ohio Department of Job and Family Services program - called Healthy Start, Healthy Families - provides free health coverage for pregnant women and children from birth to age 19 based on income.
Also, the NAACP could take the time to make use of the many adoption agencies around the country. Many parent-hopefuls are willing to pay the full cost of a pregnant mother's medical expenses. This action releases the mother from the guilt of refusing life to her baby and gives her the opportunity to be a part of the child's life. Most adoptive parents are pleased to have the birth mother present throughout the child's life.
The thought of the NAACP's pro-choice position is disappointing. The 95-year-old organization cannot possibly be advocating the advancement of minority women, children or families. Who are they really advocating with this position? Is it possible that this organization is using pro-abortion as a platform to gain financial and political support? Like most so-called human advocacy organizations, the NAACP pants, sniffs and licks the doo-doo of the dollar.
