Human-Interest staff relish Athens’ sweet spots

Human-interest writers share their favorite destinations to satisfy a sweet tooth.

What is the Human-Interest staff's favorite destination to enjoy a sweet treat?

“I am a big ice cream lover, so Whit’s Frozen Custard is my go-to pretty much always,” Ethan Herx, a junior studying photojournalism, said.

“Insomnia Cookies is so good,” Fiona Petticrew, a sophomore studying communications, said. “In my opinion, it's way better than Crumbl Cookies, because they're open later and nighttime is prime cookie-eating time. Insomnia cookies actually taste like real cookies. I love its s'more and confetti deluxe cookies.”

“My favorite treat is Insomnia Cookies because the app has deals on free delivery,” Jen Fosnaught, a sophomore studying journalism, said. “They have stuff that is easy for me and my roommate to split.”

“My favorite sweet treat to get in Athens has to be a vegan whitzer from Whit's on Court Street,” Gina Napoli, a junior studying journalism, said. “I am so happy they have a vegan custard option, and I can add any toppings I want to it. My go-to order is Oreos, peanut butter and brownie bites. I highly recommend trying it.”

“My favorite sweet treat is a chocolate croissant,” Caitlyn Vance, a sophomore studying journalism, said. “I love Front Room's chocolate croissants and the fact that they have a microwave to heat items. It is the perfect study treat and super close to where I live.”

“My favorite sweet treat is ice cream,” Emma Snyder-Lovera, a senior studying journalism and media arts production, said. “My go-to place in Athens is Whit's. I love their turtle sundae and how quickly they are with getting your orders out to you. Also, it's right by the College Green, so you can sit and enjoy your ice cream in a pretty area.”

“I love the cakes and pies at Nelson Dining Hall,” Renae Hefty, a junior studying journalism, said. “It can be a coin toss if they run out or not, but they almost always have something. It's so tempting. I’ll say, ‘I’ve already used a meal swipe and what if they don't have this next time? I gotta get something.’”
