Ohio is back in action this weekend, starting its season with a four-game series on the road against Lipscomb. Ohio will be looking to start the year on a good note after losing five of its last six games to end the 2023 season. Those late losses caused Ohio to narrowly miss out on the MAC tournament, but this season is an entirely different story.

For some, the idea of spending the night in the woods invokes feelings of anxiety, stress and overall negativity. Add onto that the impending, life-changing event that is a student’s first semester of college, and doing anything outside is a no-go.

Despite my indifference to the dining halls here at Ohio University, I’ll admit they are my go-to when it comes to eating. The cost efficiency is unbeatable at Boyd or Nelson dining hall. I’d much rather spend one meal swipe at a dining hall than actual money on slightly better food.

Few films stand as divisive as those labeled under the war genre. Audiences ease into dramas, romances and even westerns with familiarity and eagerness. With war, many turn away from its grizzly portrayals and gruesome realities. Observing humanity’s worst features is not always entertaining and deservedly so.

I have always used the lack of South Asian representation in media and television as a punchline with close friends and family. Aside from Ravi in “Jessie,” portrayed by Indian-American actor Karan Brar, and Mindy Kaling’s portrayal of Kelly from “The Office,” there weren’t many other characters that looked like me on television in the 2010s.

For many students, college is the bridge between childhood and adulthood, a transition period during which young adults learn how to be independent and take care of themselves. This is often an exciting time as they find themselves and prepare to navigate the world on their own.

Having worked in a bike shop for the better part of two years, I saw firsthand one of the most divisive topics in the cycling world: e-bikes. Being at a shop that rented and sold e-bikes, or electric bikes, I learned about the spectrum of opinions on them, being good, bad or some mix of both.

When I read the Metal Injection headline “Metallica’s Download Set Got Noise Complaint From 15 Miles Away,” all I could think was “rock on.” At the time, I was full of anticipation, as I was going to see the band on that same tour; if I got anything less than a similar sonic assault on my eardrums, I was going to be thoroughly disappointed.

Since Hollywood was established as a municipality in 1903 and later consolidated into Los Angeles, the emergence of rumors and celebrity obsession has greatly impacted female-identifying artists. From actors like Clara Bow to Gloria Swanson, the 1920s, in particular, saw an increase in celebrity coverage as silent films boomed in Hollywood.

During Ohio's (13-11, 7-4 Mid-American Conference) four-game winning streak, the team played strong defense to go along with excellent shooting; however, on Saturday in its 100-87 loss to Arkansas State (11-14, 6-6 Sun Belt Conference), Ohio had one of its worst defensive performances of the season.

On a day when Ohio (7-15, 4-7 Mid-American Conference) dropped its fourth straight game and lost the battle against Texas State (13-12, 3-9 Sun Belt), most wouldn’t expect there to be many bright spots. Despite the losses adding up for Ohio, freshman guard Laylay Fantroy delivered a breakout performance with a career-high 24 points.

Ohio will take on its first nonconference opponent in over a month when it travels to Arkansas to take on Arkansas State. Ohio has been hot in the Mid-American Conference and will look to keep its four-game win streak alive in a game that impacts the team a little less than what is to come in the final month of the season.

As members of the student organization Black Sheep Improv circled up before rehearsal, they shared something about their weekend before beginning a rehearsal full of laughter and fun. A theater game of “kitty cat careers” got the giggles going in this rehearsal, and it was clear to see that the members of Black Sheep Improv are a close-knit family.

The past few years have been a lot politically, leaving many out of the political process. Young Americans feel left behind by the two-party system and are wary of traditional politicians, with young people planning to vote at a lower rate in the presidential election this fall than they did in 2020.

Nowadays, it's hard to find songs that talk about the constraints of a small town. However, one song from last year managed to hook its target audience. To all of us Midwesterners out there, here is this week's "Music Notes": “Suburban Blues," one of the lead singles from The Aces' third studio album "I've Loved You For So Long."

The 1990s and 2000s are universally known as the peak of the romantic comedy, or rom-com, genre. With movies like "When Harry Met Sally…," "10 Things I Hate About You" and "50 First Dates," it makes sense why many movie buffs consider the genre to have reached its prime in the years spanning from the late 1980s to the 2000s. But what has changed since then?
