NFTs are a reasonably new, somewhat controversial and potentially very profitable aspect of blockchain technology. The basic premise is that NFTs are unique digital assets with specific properties or attributes - like a house mortgage or barrel of oil. But the question arises whether the sudden surge in their trading indicates the dawn of something new and exciting or just a speculative bubble? My discussions with those around me and in digital spaces have led me to the conclusion that the NFT trend has been bothering tech-savvy and environmentalists equally.

KENT — Ohio has suffered blow out losses this season, but never to the scale it had against Kent State on Friday night. In one of, if not its worst loss all season, Ohio was run out of the Memorial Athletic and Convocation Center in a disastrous 75-52 loss that erased much of the progress it had worked for over the past week.

The number of people that own animals in the United States is up and growing everyday. According to the 2019-2020 National Pet Owners Survey, “about 85 million American families (or 67%) own some kind of pet.” Due to a high demand for pets, the pet and pet care industry has become a huge market. In 2021, the market was worth 232 billion dollars, and it is estimated to have a 6.1% compounded annual growth rate. Unfortunately, people take advantage of this market and sacrifice safe and ethical breeding of animals to continue earning profit. Most of these animals end up being sold in pet stores around the U.S.

Despite putting up another strong first half performance, Athens (7-14, 6-6 Tri-Valley Conference-Ohio) ran out of steam Saturday night in in its 59-42 loss to Trimble (17-0, 9-0 Tri-Valley Conference-Hocking). Athens was playing its fourth game in five days, and it couldn't keep up against the top team in the TVC-Hocking.
