On Friday, Athens locals and those traveling from far away gathered in the River Of Time Boutique and Gallery to listen to Grammy award winner and Rock & Roll Hall of Fame inductee Jorma Kaukonen and guitarist John Hurlbut put on a captivating, free performance.
Tuesday, Jan. 27
Hundreds of students walked out of class Friday afternoon and gathered on College Green in protest of nationwide U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement activity. The rally, organized by Ohio University’s Ohio Student Association chapter, called on university administration to respond to student concerns about the potential presence of ICE on campus.
On Jan. 19th, the Alpha Phi Alpha fraternity held its annual silent march to honor Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. and his legacy. A brunch was held directly after which featured speakers and performances. Members of The Post were in attendance.
Monday morning, over 100 Ohio University students, faculty and staff gathered at Galbreath Chapel to commemorate the life and legacy of Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Members of The Post joined the Celebration Silent March led by the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc. and Celebratory Brunch held by OU’s Center for Student Engagement & Leadership to remember and honor Dr. King’s contribution to upholding the freedoms upon which our newsroom is built: speech and press.

Buckeye Environmental Network is suing the Ohio Department of Natural Resources following the approval of two oil and gas waste disposal wells, Stephan #1 and American Growers #4, in Southeast Ohio.
A new mural at Habitat for Humanity ReStore on 309 W Union St. brought together several Athens organizations and dozens of residents for a celebratory ribbon-cutting ceremony Monday evening despite the cold weather.
On Oct. 22, the Ohio House of Representatives passed House Bill 186, a measure designed to prevent sudden jumps in property taxes. The bill was passed along with House Bill 335, another property tax relief proposal. Both aim to fix problems left by the current property tax law, House Bill 920.
