This Thursday the NFL draft will start at 8 p.m., so it’s time to look at one last position group before we know where everyone will be drafted. In order to compete in the league today, a team needs to have a shutdown cornerback that can take away the other team's best receiving threat, but these types of players are few and far between. Many cornerback-needy teams will be looking to find their missing piece for their secondary in the first round -- but who are these players?

One thing you can’t have enough of in the NFL is elite pass rushers. Having a dynamic group of edge defenders can be the difference between winning or losing games because of the ability to get the opponent's quarterback on the ground. Many teams at the start of the draft are in desperate need of someone who can provide pressure for their defense and because of that an early run of the top pass rushers in the draft would not be surprising.

Every now and then an NFL draft class has a once in a lifetime wide receiver prospect and they are usually selected within the top five of that draft. What sets this draft class apart is that there are three of said prospects available to be selected in this year's draft class. These three receivers are all extremely talented athletes with very few things separating them from each other skill wise, and any of them could improve a teams wide receiver room.

NFL free agency is going to see one of the biggest free agent classes at the running back position in years with players like Derrick Henry and Saquon Barkley hitting the open market. That being said, a lot of teams do not want to spend big money bringing in a veteran and would rather address their backfield through the NFL draft. This is a significantly cheaper way to acquire talent for a team's rushing attack and this class has a few standout rushers that could help improve a team's running game.

With this year slated to have one of the biggest quarterback classes since 2018, it’s important to get to know the prospects ahead of draft day. These players may not be the top tier prospects such as University of Southern California quarterback Caleb Williams or Louisiana State University quarterback Jayden Daniels, but in a draft class this deep it’s important to learn about the other potential leaders for franchises to pick up.
