The brand new album “Dark Corners and Alchemy” by mehro is here. The collection of 12 songs follows mehro’s 2021 album “SKY ON FIRE,” which has amassed millions of streams on Spotify. As the title may imply, the album is split into the “Dark Corners” half and the “Alchemy” half. The “Dark Corners” side is described as being centered around sitting with one’s emotional pain while the “Alchemy” side is described as focusing on transforming the pain of the “Dark Corners” side into something positive in one’s life.

Welcome to the 2023 era of Tunes with Tate. Tunes with Tate started with the idea to have my parents and younger brother review music while I was stuck at home for a virtual 2020 Fall Semester. There hasn’t been a Tunes with Tate in this format since October 2021, so naturally the impact of “Midnights” by Taylor Swift brought it out of the woodwork.

It’s been a rough three years. Ever since the COVID-19 pandemic hit in 2020, it’s felt like the importance of checking in on one’s mental health is more highlighted than ever. Being isolated for months on end began to wear down the mental wellbeing of even those who didn’t regularly experience issues with mental health. I personally didn’t realize how much social interaction impacted my wellbeing on a daily basis, which was surprising for someone who thought of themself as an introvert.

Taylor Swift announced her Eras Tour on Nov. 1, and the world started to feel whole again. As announcements about Ticketmaster’s presale were released, everything seemed straightforward and fair. The virtual line to register for presale was random, as were the people who were emailed on Nov. 14 that they’d been chosen to receive a text message containing a special presale code and link to use the following day when the tickets for their preferred show went live.

The story starts approximately 4,000 years ago in Mesopotamia when, in an effort to preserve cucumbers, people started putting them in acidic brine. There is no current knowledge about how these methods came to be, but here in 2022, pickles are still a beloved snack by many, with Americans alone eating an estimated 20 billion pickles every year. Pickles are so popular they even get their own holiday, with National Pickle Day celebrated each Nov. 14.
