Athens City Council voted on a resolution to support a ceasefire in Palestine during their meeting. Several Athens residents and Ohio University students were attending the rally to show support for taking American troops out of Gaza and mourning for those who have died.
A fire broke out on the fourth floor of Beasley Mills Apartments on Union Street Saturday afternoon. Although occupants on the second floor originally unable to exit the building, there were no injuries to the residents or firefighters.

Athens City Council met on Monday evening to discuss the Athens City Commission on Disabilities’ annual report and essential city services to address the needs of individuals with disabilities.

The city already outlaws the use of tobacco in parks, but amending this would add that people are not permitted to use any sort of marijuana product, which may include inhaling, exhaling, burning, edibles, liquid vapes and other lighted smoking devices, papers or devices used for marijuana.
